National Night Out in Fort Worth is Tuesday, Oct. 6. The City is encouraging residents to get together with neighbors and enjoy a night out in the neighborhood.
National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live. National Night Out enhances the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement while fostering a true sense of community, bringing police and neighbors together under positive circumstances.
Over 500 Texas cities are participating in this event.
Started in August 1984, the first annual National Night Out involved 2.5 million neighbors across 400 communities in 23 states. Today, 38 million neighbors in 17,000 communities participate.
Creating a great National Night Out event doesn't have to be complicated or expensive. The Fort Worth Police Department shared these ideas to keep it simple and share the costs:
