ICANN Introduces Payment Testing for 2026 Round Applicants

The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) has made payment testing available for entities applying for new generic top-level domains (gTLDs) in the New gTLD Program: 2026 Round. This gives applicants an opportunity to test their organization's payment process to ensure that ICANN can receive payment before submitting the full gTLD evaluation fee.

The gTLD evaluation fee must be received by ICANN by no later than 23:59 UTC on 19 August 2026, seven days after the close of the application window on 12 August 2026. Payment transfers take varying amounts of time, depending on the applicant's bank and geographic location. Because of this, applicants are encouraged to test their payment method to ensure a smooth payment process in advance of submitting their application.

To submit a test payment, applicants should email [email protected] for instructions. More information on the evaluation fee and payment is available here.

ICANN also has made available a consolidated (pro forma) quotation for entities that are applying for multiple TLDs. Applicants can request a consolidated quotation by emailing [email protected] and indicating the number of TLDs being applied for. More information is available here. A quotation for a single gTLD is available here.

While preparing an application, applicants can direct questions to [email protected]. Once an application is submitted, applicants can use the inquiry function within TAMS to ask questions related to a specific application.

About ICANN

ICANN's mission is to help ensure a stable, secure, and unified global Internet. To reach another person on the Internet, you need to type an address - a name or a number - into your computer or other device. That address must be unique so computers know where to find each other. ICANN helps coordinate and support these unique identifiers across the world. ICANN was formed in 1998 as a nonprofit public benefit corporation with a community of participants from all over the world.
