Join the Academic and Practice Linkages in Public Health Caucus at APHA 2026

October 28, 2026

The Academic and Practice Linkages in Public Health (APLPH) Caucus, sponsored by ASPPH in partnership with the Public Health Accreditation Board (PHAB) and the Public Health Foundation (PHF), will host several sessions at the American Public Health Association's (APHA) 2026 Annual Meeting, taking place November 1-4 in San Antonio, TX. These sessions will focus on strengthening connections between academic public health and practice.

The interactive session, Dear Academia, We Need to Talk: A Candid Conversation with Public Health Practice, will bring together practitioners, educators, and partners to explore how academia and practice can better collaborate to prepare and strengthen the public health workforce. Facilitated discussions will focus on foundational competencies, health department accreditation, and academic health department partnerships, inviting attendees to share experiences, identify challenges, and explore opportunities for more effective collaboration.

The APLPH Caucus will also highlight findings from ASPPH's Framing the Future 2030 initiative, Fostering Community Partnerships, during Transforming Partnering for Health: Drivers that Enable Institutional Change toward Authentic Community Engagement. Moderated by ASPPH Chief Academic Officer Dr. Linda Alexander, the session will feature recipients of ASPPH's Harrison C. Spencer Award for Outstanding Community Service, academic public health leaders, and community partners. Participants will gain practical insights into building trust, strengthening partnerships, and advancing community health.

Attendees are also invited to connect with colleagues during Conversations and Coffee with the APLPH Caucus on November 2, from 7:00-8:00 AM CT.

For questions regarding the Caucus, please contact Kaitlin Tager, Director of Program Administration, at [email protected].
