CDC Disease Detectives Present at Annual CDC EIS Conference

WHAT:

The disease detectives of CDC's Epidemic Intelligence Service (EIS) are gathering this week for the 2026 Annual EIS Conference, the nation's flagship applied epidemiology conference.

Over the course of four days, CDC's EIS officers will share their work on outbreak investigations, new scientific findings, and forward-thinking strategies to inform improvements in public health.

This year marks the 75th anniversary of the EIS program, and the 2026 conference will highlight this milestone with special recognitions and reflections honoring the program's legacy, its impact on public health, and the contributions of generations of EIS officers.

WHEN:

April 21-24, 2026

WHO:

In addition to CDC's current EIS officers, the conference will also feature presentations by CDC-affiliated fellows and residents training in lab science and epidemiology, and TED-style talks by EIS officers and alumni.

WHERE:

The 2026 EIS Conference will be held in Atlanta on CDC's main campus.

  • Due to venue capacity limitations, in-person attendance will be limited to current CDC employees and supervisors from state and local health departments approved to recruit for hosting an EIS officer.
