Proposed Discharge of Dredged or Fill Material to the Green RiverThe Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality (WDEQ) has received a request from the Wyoming Department of Transportation for State certification of U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Nationwide Permit #14, for the discharge of dredged or fill material to Green River in Daniel, Wyoming. The purpose of the project is to remove and replace the existing failed rock riprap bank stabilization structure of the CVJ bridge. This section of the Green River is a designated Outstanding Resource Water where point source discharges are prohibited except for storm water and construction related discharges. This certification will require meeting the provisions in Chapter 1, Section 13 (a)(iii)(A) and (D), of the WDEQ Water Quality Rules and Regulations, which allows these discharges under certain circumstances. Proposed activities include implementing concrete jersey barriers to reduce temporary disturbances, removing the existing failed rock riprap and stabilizing the bank with new rock riprap. To do this, approximately 200 cubic yard (CY) of rock riprap will be excavated and approximately 200 CY of rock riprap will be placed along the banks to construct features. No permanent impacts to wetlands are anticipated. Requests for information about the proposed water quality certification should be directed to James Tarzon by email ([email protected]) or phone (307-777-6701).
