Warning about fraudulent emails sent in the name of the FDPIC

Emails are currently circulating that purport to be from the FDPIC. The senders target these messages specifically at website operators, claiming that there have been breaches of the Swiss Data Protection Act (FDPA).

If you receive unexpected or suspicious emails, pay particular attention to the following characteristics:

  • Unusual sender addresses or slightly altered domain names
  • Requests to provide personal data or to pay a fee
  • Attachments or links of unclear or unknown origin

If in doubt, do not click on any links or open any attachments.

The FDPIC will file a report against persons unknown with the Office of the Attorney General.
