Gov. Hobbs Orders Flags to Half-Staff for Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day

Governor Katie Hobbs has ordered flags at all state buildings to be lowered to half-staff from sunrise to sunset on Dec. 7, Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day.

This year is the 84th anniversary of that infamous day in U.S. history. Flags fly at half-staff every year on Dec. 7 to honor and remember the 2,403 service members and civilians who were killed in the attack on Pearl Harbor on Dec. 7, 1941. Honoring America's Veteransis hosting a Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day event at Wesley Bolin Plaza at 10:55 a.m. on Dec. 6.

While the last survivor from the USS Arizona passed away in 2024, there are an estimated 14 U.S. veterans who are survivors of the Pearl Harbor attack across the nation still sharing their stories of loss, heroism and determination.

Individuals, businesses and other organizations are encouraged to join in this tribute on Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day.
