Today, Secretly Distribution announces a worldwide distribution deal with Ipecac Recordings, the independent record label that has been making people sick since 1999. Founded by musician Mike Patton (Mr. Bungle, Faith No More, Fantômas, Tomahawk, Peeping Tom, Mondo Cane, Dead Cross, AVTT/PTTN) and artist/label managerGreg Werckman (of legendary punk institutions Alternative Tentacles, Mercury Records, Pick-A-Winner Management), Ipecac Recordings has upheld its unique and eclectic roots for more than 25 years. Dabbling in rock, country, hip-hop, electronic, comedy, classical, soundtracks and more, Ipecac has always been defined by the artists they work for and with, treating them fairly, including them in all decisions, and allowing them to retain ownership, while avoiding sonic limitations and industry standards.
Sales figures, public profiles and chart positions have never been the driving force of Ipecac, but together with Secretly Distribution - who will now handle physical and digital music distribution, digital and retail marketing, and technological support for all of Ipecac's forthcoming releases - each artist will be further enabled to challenge themselves and others, doing what feels right on a greater and more global scale.
"One needs to evaluate constantly with the ever-shifting music industry landscape. Where do we fit? Who understands us? Who are our people? Partnering with Secretly at this time makes perfect sense," says Greg Werckman, Co-Founder of Ipecac Recordings."From the people that work at Secretly to the eclectic collection of labels and artists they work with, it feels like joining a commune of like-minded, fairly well groomed, independent music lovers. We are honored to be asked to join the 'club' and look forward to much more shared mayhem."
"Take a look at the Ipecac roster and you'll see a rundown of artists who have consistently pushed at boundaries, challenged preconceptions, thrown curveballs and made us all wince, gasp, laugh and, frankly, rock in various measures," adds Tom Davies, Director of Global Marketing & Campaigns at Secretly Distribution. "It's been a pleasure to listen to their output for 25 years, and everyone at Secretly Distribution is beyond excited to get to work with a label whose commitment to supporting groundbreaking music matches our own. We are thrilled to collaborate with Greg, Marc and Mike to support their amazing catalog and new releases."
As a full-service partnership, Secretly Distribution will amplify Ipecac's commitment to artistic respect and independence, as the label joins a roster of Secretly affiliates such as such as Dead Oceans, drink sum wtr, Ghostly International, Jagjaguwar, Merge Records, Saddest Factory Records, Sacred Bones, Secretly Canadian and Numero Group, as well as label partners including Hayley Williams' Post Atlantic, Captured Tracks, Run For Cover, Rhymesayers, A24 Music, Asthmatic Kitty Records, Joyful Noise, Father/Daughter, Big Crown, Colemine, Jazz Is Dead, Oh Boy Records, Org Music, Invada Records and more.
Like Ipecac Recordings, Secretly Distribution (SD) is an artist-first company, proudly home to labels and musicians who value self-reliance and expansive creativity. The deal marks the first that SD has announced in 2026, following its biggest year ever in 2025, supporting thousands of releases from over 100 partners.
