City of Boulder closures for July 3, 2026

All City of Boulder administrative facilities and Age Well Centers will be closed Friday, July 3, in observance of the Independence Day holiday. The following facilities and services will be open:

Fireworks are illegal in the city, including on open space. The Boulder Police Department and city OSMP rangers will have increased patrols throughout the week to help deter the use of fireworks and asks anyone who sees individuals actively setting off fireworks to call Dispatch at 303-441-3333 with as much information as possible. All ignition sources - including smoking and campfires - are also prohibited on OSMP land. Boulder Fire-Rescue and other city wildland fire resources deployment will be considered on special occasions and on high-risk days. It only takes a small spark to put the community at risk so please be aware of your local fire regulations and recreate responsibly to help prevent wildfires.

Access to Flagstaff will be limited. From 6 to 11 p.m. on July 4, all traffic will be diverted from Baseline Road at 6th Street. Only residents who live west of Chautauqua will be allowed beyond the closure.

Parking will be free on city streets and in all city-owned lots and open downtown garages on Independence Day, July 4. Paid parking will be in effect at/near Chautauqua Park on the holiday, and the free Park-to-Park shuttle will be running from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. The HOP bus will operate with holiday service levels.

Parking at Eben G. Fine Park will be open and Urban Park Rangers will be patrolling the entire Boulder Creek corridor to ensure everyone is recreating responsibly. Community members are encouraged to park at the Boulder County Justice Center, 1777 6th St. or the Main Boulder Public Library, 1001 Arapahoe Ave. Alcohol, grills and glass bottles are not allowed at Eben G. Fine Park. The city urges community members to recreate safely around Boulder Creek, as water in the creek can be running stronger, deeper and colder than it looks.
