WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Today, Representative Jeff Crank (CO-05) announced the award of a grant to support the future of nearly 800 children in El Paso County every year.
The Department of War Office of Local Defense Community Cooperation has approved a federal grant for $42,719,334 to Academy District 20 to address facility capacity and condition deficiencies at Douglass Valley Elementary School at the U.S. Air Force Academy. This announcement follows the April 2019 Deputy Secretary's "Public Schools on Military Installations Priority List," which found Douglass Valley Elementary to be in "poor" condition and nearing a "failing" rating. Once completed, 787 students will be supported annually through this project, nearly doubling the school's capacity.
"I am grateful to Secretary Hegseth and his Department for allocating money to Academy District 20," said Rep. Crank. "This initiative will ensure that our military families have access to the high-quality education opportunities that their children need to thrive."
