July 1, 2026 marks the 105th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China (CPC). Why has a brief period of 105 years - a fleeting moment in the long river of human history - been able to rejuvenate an ancient Eastern country, once mired in poverty and weakness and threatened by domestic strife and foreign aggression, and transform it into a dynamic nation that attracts worldwide attention? The fundamental reason lies in the leadership of the CPC.

The CPC Has Changed China and the World. 

China has a history of more than 5,000 years. After the Opium War of 1840, however, China was gradually reduced to a semi-colonial, semi-feudal society and suffered greater ravages than ever before. Countless noble-minded patriots sought to save the Chinese nation, but none succeeded in ending the state of fragmentation and vulnerability. It was not until the founding of the CPC in 1921 that the course of Chinese history in modern times was profoundly changed, and the future and destiny of the Chinese people and nation were transformed.

For 105 years, the CPC has remained true to its founding mission of pursuing happiness for the Chinese people and rejuvenation for the Chinese nation. It has led the Chinese people in establishing the People's Republic of China in 1949, launching reform and opening up since 1978, and ushering in the new era of socialism with Chinese characteristics since 2012. Through unremitting endeavors, the CPC has achieved remarkable accomplishments that will go down in history.

It is during the 105 years that the destiny and future of the Chinese people have been fundamentally transformed. Under the leadership of the CPC, the Chinese people, through a magnificent and great struggle, overthrew the three mountains of imperialism, feudalism, and bureaucratic capitalism, established a new China in which the people are the masters of the country, brought a definitive end to the history of old China as a semi-colonial and semi-feudal society, and realized a historic leap in the people's living standards-from having inadequate food and clothing to achieving moderate prosperity overall, and then to moderate prosperity in all respects. The per capita disposable income of Chinese residents has grown from 49.7 RMB yuan at the founding of the PRC to 43,400 RMB yuan (approximately 28,000 Kina) today, an increase of over 870 times. China has successfully lifted 800 million people out of poverty, and has built the world's largest education, social security and medical and health care systems, with 268 million students enrolled, 1.32 billion people covered by basic medical insurance, and over 1.09 million medical and health institutions nationwide. The average life expectancy in China has reached 79.25 years, far higher than the roughly 35 years at the time of the founding of PRC in 1949.

It is during the 105 years that the right path toward the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation has been blazed. Through the great practice of revolution, construction, reform, and the new era, the CPC has led the people through untold hardships to successfully opened up the path of socialism with Chinese characteristics, realizing the industrialization in just a few decades that took Western developed nations several centuries to achieve, and creating the twin miracles of achieving rapid economic development and long-term social stability. Since the founding of the PRC, the country's GDP has grown from 12.3 billion US dollars to 19.63 trillion US dollars, an increase of nearly 1,600 times, firmly ranking second in the world. The output of coal, steel, and electricity has respectively risen from 32 million tons, 158,000 tons, and 4.3 billion kWh to 4.85 billion tons, 961 million tons, and 10.85 trillion kWh. Over the past five years, China's economy has grown at an average annual rate of 5.4%, ranking among the top major economies.

It is during the 105 years that the course of world history has been profoundly influenced. The CPC always stands firm on the right side of history and on the side of human civilization and progress. It has profoundly altered the trends and landscape of world development through its unremitting efforts in self-improvement. Today, the CPC has led the Chinese people in advancing Chinese modernization, creating a new model for human advancement, and expanding the channels for developing countries to achieve modernization. The CPC has promoted the development of building a community with a shared future for humanity, and offered Chinese wisdom, Chinese solutions, and Chinese strength for addressing major issues facing humanity. China is continuously expanding its opening-up and drive world development with its own growth, maintaining its contribution rate to global economic growth at around 30% for many consecutive years. China is committed to peaceful development and upholding fairness and justice, injecting tremendous stability and certainty into a turbulent world. China, led by the CPC, is widely recognized as a builder of world peace, a contributor to global development, and a defender of the international order.

The Valuable Experience of the CPC Can Serve as an Important Reference for Many Developing Countries.

Over the course of its 105-year history, the CPC has accumulated valuable experience that can serve as an important reference for many developing countries including PNG.

First, dedication to the pursuit of truth. The CPC remains committed to freeing minds, seeking truth from facts, advancing with the times, and taking a pragmatic approach. The Party seeks to uncover truth in social dynamics and harness it, is adept at testing and refining truth through practice, and constantly guides new practice with evolving theory, ensuring that the cause of the Party and the people always stay on the right path.

Second, boasting a solid foundation. The CPC always keeps firmly in mind that the country is its people, and the people are the country. The Party remains committed to serving the public interest and exercising power for the people, and faithfully upholds the fundamental purpose of serving the people wholeheartedly. The CPC stands with people, thinks with them, and works with them-and this has given the Party a solid foundation that no storm can shake.

Third, maintaining strategic initiative. The CPC always firmly shoulders the great responsibilities entrusted to it by history and by the people, maintains coherence between long-term and phased goals, identifies central tasks in response to the evolving primary challenge of society, and formulates and implements sound line, principles, and policies, ensuring that the Party always leads and holds the initiative in advancing its cause.

Fourth, staying at the forefront of the times. The CPC always maintains a high degree of historical consciousness and a broad global vision. It makes sure that its work is relevant to the times, grounded in objective laws, and innovative, thus steering the country and nation along the logic of history and with the tide of the times.

Fifth, maintaining confidence in victory. The CPC always remains committed to independence and self-reliance. It upholds and carries forward the spirit of dauntless sacrifice and heroic struggle. For the people, the country, the nation, and for our ideals and convictions, the CPC has never flinched or retreated. With an iron will that remains unshaken in the face of all storms, it inspires the people to march from victory to victory.

Sixth, pursuing self-revolution. The CPC excels at examining itself against the demands of the times, keeping itself alert with a keen sense of urgency, and improving itself through self-revolution. It places great importance on self-strengthening, resolutely eliminating all factors that undermine its advanced and pure nature, and eradicating all viruses that erode its health, thus becoming stronger and more capable through revolutionary tempering.

Guided by Xi Jinping Thought on Party Building, the CPC will Lead Chinese People to Achieve New Miracles, and Will Bring More Development Opportunities for Other Countries including PNG.

Since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, the Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at its core has centered on the major contemporary question of what kind of long-term governing Marxist party to build and how to build it. By proposing a series of new ideas, thoughts, and strategies, the Party has formed Xi Jinping's Thought on Party Building. As a crucial component of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, this thought has made major original contributions to developing Marxist party-building theory, and holds significant practical and long-term guiding significance for strengthening the Party and the country.

On the gathering marking the CPC's 105th founding anniversary on July 1, Chinese President Xi Jinping, also general secretary of the CPC Central Committee called on all Party members to remain steadfast in their convictions and work tirelessly. The whole Party must adhere to its basic theory, basic line and basic policy, rely closely on the people to create historic feats, respond actively to risks and challenges on the path ahead, continue to promote the building of a community with a shared future for humanity, and persistently advance full and rigorous Party self-governance, so as to continuously create new achievements worthy of the times and the people.

Against the historical backdrop of a rapidly evolving landscape unseen in a century and a world entering a new period of turbulence and transformation, the CPC will follow the will of the people and the trend of the times, hold high the banner of peace, development, cooperation and mutual benefit, champion the common values of humanity, work for a new type of international relations, and promote the implementation of the Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative, the Global Civilization Initiative and the Global Governance Initiative, so as to add more positive energy to world peace and development. At the same time, we will fully implement CPC's overall policy for resolving the Taiwan question in the new era, adhere to the one-China principle, resolutely crack down on separatist forces advocating so called "Taiwan independence," oppose interference by external forces, and firmly advance the process of national reunification.

Although China and PNG have different political systems, we enjoy long history of relations and a time-honored friendship. Around 6,000 years ago, the ancestors of people living along the southeastern coast of China's mainland migrated across the seas to the vast expanse of the Pacific and Indian Oceans, forming the Austronesian-speaking peoples, of which some coastal residents of PNG are a part. Over 100 years ago, Chinese people traveled across the sea to PNG, lived in harmony and worked side by side with local residents, and became an important part of the country's multicultural community. Over the 50 years of China-PNG diplomatic relations, our comprehensive strategic partnership has continued to deepen. Our two countries have maintained close high-level exchanges, continuously deepened political mutual trust, steadily expanded practical cooperation, and seen their people-to-people friendship grow stronger. We have become good friends with mutual trust, good partners for mutual benefit and win-win outcomes, and good brothers supporting each other in international affairs. Our relationship has set a fine example of mutual benefit and win-win cooperation among developing countries and delivered tangible benefits to our peoples.

At this new historical starting point, the Chinese side stands ready to work with PNG to further strengthen bilateral exchanges, firmly support each other on issues involving each other's core interests and major concerns, enhance exchanges on governance experience, deepen practical cooperation in all fields, bring our comprehensive strategic partnership to a new level, and jointly build a closer China-Pacific Island Countries community with a shared future.
