On September 25, in New York, on the margins of the 80th Session of the UNGA, Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia Robert Abisoghomonyan participated and delivered remarks at the 10th Ministerial Meeting of the Like-Minded Group for Middle-Income Countries.
In his remarks, the Deputy Foreign Minister touched upon the constraints on the development prospects of middle-income countries stemming from vulnerabilities in the development cooperation and current systemic gaps.
Touching upon the addressing of the challenges faced by MICs, Deputy Foreign Minister Robert Abisoghomonyan emphasized the necessity for international financial architecture reforms, a robust UN development system and a transformed international development cooperation framework for MICs. It was highlighted that implementing these commitments would enable tailored financing, advance infrastructure development and capacity-building and provide sustained support for long-term resilience and development for MICs.
The Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia emphasized the importance of implementing the commitments undertaken by countries following the High-level Ministerial meeting of MICs and the Makati Declaration, stressing in this vein the need to develop a Strategic Plan of Action for MICs.
In conclusion, Robert Abisoghomonyan reiterated the commitment of Armenia to fostering robust partnerships among MICs, aimed at unlocking the untapped collective potential and ensuring equitable positioning within the global development architecture.
