1. Senior Minister of State (SMS) of the Ministry of Law and the Ministry of Transport Mr Murali Pillai SC made an official visit to Saudi Arabia, from 3 to 4 February 2026.

2. SMS Murali attended the Saudi Center for Commercial Arbitration (SCCA) 5th International Conference and Exhibition in Riyadh on 4 February. During his trip, SMS Murali also met with H.E. Mr Mohammed Sulaiman Al Ajaji, President of the Bureau of Experts at the Council of Ministers (BOE) of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

3. At the SCCA 5th International Conference and Exhibition, SMS Murali delivered the closing address, where he discussed the principles that should operate within the process of an international dispute resolution system for it to be legitimate, robust, stable and fit for purpose in the current uncertain times. These include having dispute resolution institutions that are fair, neutral, and possess cutting edge competencies to handle complex disputes across domains, as well as platforms that are inclusive and multilateral. Concluding his speech, SMS Murali reiterated the importance of long term international cooperation in addressing global issues.
