Drowning at Salt Pond Bay

ST. JOHN, U.S. Virgin Islands - On June 4, Virgin Islands National Park rangers responded alongside St. John Rescue and the Virgin Islands Police Department to an incident at Salt Pond Beach. Park rangers and St. John Rescue participated in the recovery of the body of a woman in her 40s who had succumbed to drowning. The National Park Service releases minimal information during ongoing investigations.

Salt Pond Beach remains open, and visitors are encouraged to remain vigilant in and around the water, be aware of boat traffic and wildlife, and follow all posted safety guidance.

Virgin Islands National Park law enforcement rangers are leading the investigation of this incident, and no additional information is available at this time.
