Premier submitted a statement for a Sept. 3, 2025 House Energy and Commerce Health Subcommittee hearing entitled, "Examining Opportunities to Advance American Health Care through the Use of Artificial Intelligence Technologies." Premier called for thoughtful regulations to unleash the transformative potential of artificial intelligence (AI) in American healthcare while maintaining the efficacy, accuracy and transparency necessary to protect end users, including patients. To achieve these dual objectives, Premier encouraged the committee to consider:
-
The value of potential AI use cases in healthcare, including applications in reducing administrative burden, clinical settings, drug development and manufacturing, and healthcare supply chain operations;
-
The need for a national privacy law to maintain competitiveness and innovation in the development of AI;
-
The importance of a clear regulatory framework prioritizing transparency and risk mitigation in the development and use of AI tools;
-
The development of a clinical workforce capable of maximizing the potential of AI technology in healthcare; and
-
The critical nature of US AI leadership to the security of healthcare infrastructure.
