CHANDLER, Ariz. - Chandler Councilmember OD Harris has been named Vice-Chair of the Valley Metro Regional Public Transportation Authority (RPTA) Board of Directors through June 2027. The 19-member regional board, representing cities, towns and Maricopa County, is responsible for guiding long-range planning, setting policy and overseeing investments that connect residents to jobs, education, health care and community amenities.
"Chandler's quality of life and economic development have been greatly enhanced by long-ranging planning and investments in transportation," said Councilmember Harris. "As Vice-Chair of the RPTA Board, I'm honored to collaborate with my colleagues across the region to expand access to opportunity, support our workforce and ensure that our transit system reflects the needs of all the communities we serve."
Harris has represented Chandler on the Valley Metro RPTA Board of Directors since January 2023. In his role as Vice-Chair, he will work with regional partners to support safe, reliable and fiscally responsible transit options that strengthen economic vitality and quality of life. Councilmember Harris has served on the Chandler City Council since January 2021. His national roles include serving on several National League of Cities committees, including the Transportation and Infrastructure Services Committee, Large Cities Council, National Black Caucus of Local Elected Officials and Hispanic Elected Local Officials, where he elevates awareness of the region's transportation and infrastructure needs.
