Transcript of the press approach by Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus M.Ryzhenkov following talks with the Iranian Foreign Minister (December 15, 2025, Minsk)

15 December 2025

First of all, I would like once again to warmly welcome you, Mr.Abbas Araghchi, to the hospitable land of Belarus.

Today, we held very substantive and, most importantly, sincere talks with my esteemed colleague, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran. Our dialogue took place in a warm and trusting atmosphere - exactly as it should between good friends and reliable partners.

We reaffirmed the high level of relations between Belarus and Iran, based on respect for the principles of sovereignty, peace, and multipolarity.

We discussed in detail the implementation of the agreements reached by the presidents of our two countries during the recent visit of Masoud Pezeshkian to Belarus in August of this year.

Specific steps were identified to expand ties in trade, economic and investment spheres, as well as in other areas of mutual interest, including the organization of expert meetings, visits, and joint events.

Our meeting is living proof that relations between Minsk and Tehran are developing dynamically and consistently, contributing to stability in the region and on the global stage.

We note a high level of mutual understanding between our countries. Today, we were convinced that this spirit of cooperation is not only being preserved, but is also being filled with new substance.

We are satisfied with the results of the meeting of the Joint Belarusian-Iranian Commission on Cooperation held in Tehran. We hope that in the near future it will be possible to raise the level of development of bilateral economic relations to the high standards set by the leaders of our countries within the framework of political dialogue.

I am confident that the entry into force on May 15 of this year of the Free Trade Agreement between the EAEU and Iran will yield good results and will serve the interests of peace and development in Eurasia. Minsk also welcomes Tehran's aspiration to participate in the development of the Eurasian Charter of Diversity and Multipolarity in the 21st century.

As states subjected to sanctions pressure, Belarus and Iran condemn the use of economic restrictions that contradict the principles of international law, harm primarily ordinary people, and provoke an escalation of tensions. In this regard, I note with satisfaction the successful cooperation of our countries within the SCO and BRICS to advance national interests on these international platforms, which represent the voice of the global majority.

I would also like to reaffirm my intention to visit Tehran on an official visit at a time agreed by both sides. I am convinced that this visit will give additional impetus to joint projects and will allow our countries to grow even closer.

Today's talks demonstrated that a shared vision for building a strategic partnership has been formed between our capitals. New steps and joint projects lie ahead.

I am confident that the results of today's negotiations will serve as a solid foundation for further deepening cooperation and strengthening the bonds of friendship between the peoples of the Republic of Belarus and the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Thank you for your attention and interest in our work. We are open to dialogue and are always glad to share with you the positive results that bring benefits to our peoples.
