First Camp expands in Älmhult with new motorhome pitches

First Camp is growing in Älmhult. Preparations are now underway on a 17,000-square-metre site at Älmhult retail park, set to welcome passing travellers and tourists with motorhomes who want to discover Älmhult, go shopping, visit IKEA and enjoy good food.

- Älmhult is a place that already attracts visitors from all over the world, and we see great potential in making it even easier for motorhome guests to stop here as a complement to the campsite we already have in the town. With motorhome pitches at the retail park, we are creating an attractive stop along the journey - where guests can discover Älmhult, shop, enjoy good food and at the same time have a safe and smooth overnight stay, says Johan Söör, CEO of First Camp.

The new establishment strengthens Älmhult retail park as a natural meeting place. One of Älmhult's biggest visitor attractions is IKEA in Älmhult, making it a perfect stop for both Swedish travellers and international visitors.

The investment is expected to attract a new customer segment: short-stay visitors who stay for one to two nights. This complements the local customer base with more tourists and travellers passing through.

- First Camp's destination will make it easier for short-stay visitors to stop for one or two nights to discover Älmhult, or simply make a convenient stop on their journey. This new customer group will bring more life and activity to the area, both during the day and in the evening, and contribute to increased visitor flow to the retail park and Älmhult as a whole, says Johanna Strid, Meeting Place Manager at Älmhult retail park.

The new 17,000-square-metre area is located directly adjacent to road 23 and will offer motorhome pitches for daily rental. Ahead of the summer season, a waste disposal station is also planned to further improve service for visiting motorhome guests.

- Motorhome guests are an important target group for First Camp, and for many, the journey is all about the freedom to stop wherever it feels right. In Älmhult, we want to offer a simple and welcoming place to pause the journey - close to shopping, restaurants and experiences. This will be First Camp's 91st destination and number 57 in Sweden, continues Johan Söör, CEO of First Camp.

Once the building permit process has been completed, work will begin to finalise the area, with the aim of welcoming this summer's tourists.
