AI agents land in Lugano

On Friday, 6 February 2026, Palazzo dei Congressi in Lugano will host the 11th Voxxed Days Ticino, an event co-organised by SUPSI Institute of Information Systems and Networking (ISIN) and USI Faculty of Informatics, supported by Exteso. An international initiative promoted by and for developers.

Voxxed Days Ticino is a unique technology event aimed at the developer community. Born as a spin-off of Devoxx and now held worldwide, Voxxed Days are training days organised by ICT specialists to bring together internationally and locally renowned speakers, leading companies in the sector and software engineers eager to increase their knowledge, hone their skills, exchange ideas and be inspired.

The event is co-organised by SUPSI Institute of Information Systems and Networking, USI Faculty of Informatics and Exteso. This year's event will once again take place at Palazzo dei Congressi in Lugano on Friday, 6 February 2026. The programme will feature a variety of presentations from national and international speakers, addressing an audience of hundreds of developers, companies, and partners from Ticino, Switzerland, and Northern Italy.

Voxxed Days Ticino will once again address a diverse array of software development topics, ranging from methodologies and architectures to the intricacies of information technology. This year's main focus will be on AI agents, which are transforming the way development teams operate and will continue to do so. As AI technology evolves, there is an increasing need to enhance the security measures of systems and applications.

To accommodate these new trends, the event will expand from 4 to 5 rooms and feature two panel discussions: "Spec-Driven Development with AI" and "Practical Security Strategies".

The programme for the day is available at: https://vdt26.voxxeddays.ch/schedule/

Among the many qualified speakers contributing to the event (https://vdt26.voxxeddays.ch/speakers/), it is worth noting the keynote speaker, Kevlin Henney. As an independent consultant and training specialist, he will discuss the past, present, and future of programming languages, including the impact of LLMs. Equally interesting is the closing talk by Mario Fusco, who will highlight the biases or attitudes (personal or group) that influence the quality of the software we produce.

The event will be preceded by four workshops designed for professionals, to be held on Thursday, 5 February 2026, at the USI-SUPSI East Campus in Lugano. The workshops offer a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the world of Voxxed and learn, develop and share with industry experts. Please note that spaces for these workshops are limited.

"Voxxed Days Ticino is establishing itself as a distinctive technology event tailored for a competent and knowledgeable audience of developers," comments Federico Yankelevich, organiser of Voxxed Days since its inception. "The Ticino edition of Voxxed Days is the first on the agenda, together with the one at CERN in Geneva, which is organised back-to-back. We are delighted to have the support of USI and SUPSI as co-organisers. One of the key elements of Voxxed's success lies in the quality of the topics covered and the excellence of the speakers presenting throughout the day."

Tiziano Leidi, Program Committee Chair of Voxxed Days Ticino and Director of the Institute of Information Systems and Networking (ISIN) at SUPSI, looks ahead to the new frontiers of software engineering with the 2026 edition: "In 2025, we celebrated Java's 30th anniversary, but by 2026, we are entering a new paradigm. This shift goes beyond merely using Large Language Models for development; it marks a true revolution driven by software agents. We aim for Voxxed Days Ticino to be the venue where developers can learn to master these new entities, fundamentally transforming the way we conceive and build digital systems." Leidi highlighted how this year's programme places particular emphasis on cutting-edge techniques such as Spec-Driven Development: "Technological evolution is moving fast: today we can take advantage of intelligent solutions capable of acting autonomously on precise specifications. Introducing topics such as specification-driven development through agents means equipping local professionals with concrete tools to manage the complexity of modern systems, reducing implementation times and increasing the formal quality of software". A bridge between research and the local market. For the ISIN Institute, co-organising the event is not just an academic commitment but a strategic choice for technology transfer: "Voxxed Days Ticino represents a fundamental opportunity for SUPSI to consolidate our role as a privileged partner for companies in Ticino," concludes Leidi. "We collaborate daily with the business community on innovative projects. Bringing leading experts in new software development methodologies to Lugano allows us to nurture an ecosystem in which research translates into competitive value for the local industry."

"This is an important event for the developer community, and we are excited to participate. At the USI Faculty of Informatics, we have a dual commitment: to train highly qualified future professionals and to invest in cutting-edge research. Our goal is to promote technology transfer that benefits local companies in key areas of informatics research, including software engineering, data science, and artificial intelligence. Additionally, we collaborate with local entities, providing them with access to the results of our world-class research projects, which help push the boundaries of technological innovation. In this context, initiatives such as Voxxed Days Ticino play a crucial role in fostering synergies among innovative companies, software engineers, and academic groups. Together with our colleagues at SUPSI and Exteso, we are delighted to support this extraordinary platform for the exchange of ideas and shared innovation!", says Ernst Wit, Dean of the Faculty of Informatics at USI.

Special thanks go to all partners and supporters. The event is sponsored by the City of Lugano. Information and full programme, constantly updated at: https://vdt26.voxxeddays.ch/
