Vanguard Ranked No. 2 in J.D. Power 2025 Retirement Plan Digital Experience Study

VALLEY FORGE, PA (September 10, 2025)-Vanguard has achieved remarkable performance of its digital experience among workplace retirement plans, ranking second out of 18 retirement plan providers in the J.D. Power 2025 Retirement Plan Digital Experience StudySM.

Vanguard's overall satisfaction score of 717 is 27 points above the industry average.

Continuous Improvement

Over the past year, Vanguard continued to make enhancements to its digital experience for retirement plan participants, including:

  • Evolving the plan participant experience on mobile devices, including a mobile-native combined view of personal investment and retirement accounts and quick access to priority information including balance, performance, and contribution. Most participant logins now come from the mobile app.
  • Streamlining navigation to provide participants with one-click access to more information about their accounts.
  • Redesigning the dashboard experience with more account information placed front and center.
  • Leveraging behavioral finance to provide context-driven nudges based on a participants' real-time behavior and stage in their financial journey, prompting them to make informed decisions about next-best actions for their financial wellbeing.
  • Expanding the availability of financial wellness tools, including an updated retirement readiness tool to give participants greater personalization and clearer insights into their financial future.

Plan participants have responded well to these enhancements, with 85% of Vanguard participants rating the digital experience a 4- or 5-out-of-5 experience.1

Study methodology

The J.D. Power Retirement Plan Digital Experience Study surveyed more than 7,000 retirement plan participants. The survey was fielded between May and June 2025, and measured satisfaction in four key dimensions on a 1,000-point scale:

  • System Performance
  • Tools/Capabilities
  • Information/Content
