Transition Your Authorization Workflow to Availity Essentials

Prior authorization management is moving to Availity Essentials, creating a new way to submit, track, and manage authorization requests for your Horizon, Horizon NJ Health and Braven Health members. As part of this transition, the current authorization workflow in Horizon's Utilization Management Tool will be replaced for most authorization activities.

What you'll be able to do in Availity Essentials

• Submit authorization requests

Submit inpatient and outpatient requests and verify requirements using the Prior Authorization Lookup tool. Enter clinical details for select procedures to receive faster authorization determinations.

• Check Authorization Status
  Check the status of requests submitted outside of Availity or by another organization.
• Use the Authorization Dashboard
  Track all requests and inquiries in one place. Filter, sort, and resume saved drafts.
• Access Digital Correspondence
  Receive and view authorization decision letters from Horizon in real time, in one place. Additional letter types will be added in the coming months.

Important: What is changing

As part of this transition, beginning October 24, you will need to move from the current Horizon Utilization Management Tool authorization workflow to the authorization tools in Availity Essentials. Access to the previous Horizon Utilization Management Tool will be limited to appeals associated with existing authorizations.
