UPDATE: Man Killed in Crash in Lloyd Neighborhood Identified, Additional Details Released
The individual killed in a crash in the Lloyd Neighborhood on Sunday, August 17, 2025, has been identified as Gerardo A. Ortiz Henriquez, 24, of Portland. His family has been notified of his death.
The preliminary investigation indicates the crash involved a tractor trailer and two people on a Lime e-scooter, not two pedestrians as originally reported. PPB's Traffic Investigations Unit (TIU) now believes that the deceased was riding on a scooter operated by an adult male who was transported to a hospital with injuries that are believed to be non-life-threatening. Alcohol impairment is being investigated as a factor. Neither the deceased nor the scooter operator was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
This was not a hit and run. The adult male driver of the tractor trailer, who was not immediately aware of the incident when it happened, has been fully cooperative with the investigation. Currently, his actions are not believed to be the cause of the crash.
At this time, no arrests have been made or citations issued. TIU is working with the Multnomah County District Attorney's office to evaluate the case for potential criminal charges.
Anyone with information about this incident, who has not talked with police, is asked to contact [email protected] attn: Traffic Investigations Unit and reference case number 25-223127.
