Wellness + Helfaer Recreation facility receives top award

The Wellness + Helfaer Recreation facility has received the National Intramural and Recreational Sports Association Outstanding Facilities Award. Members of Campus Recreation accepted the award on Friday, April 10, at the NIRSA National Conference in Washington, D.C.

James Friel, director of campus recreation, said the recognition reflects the facility's impact on campus.

"It is incredible to receive our association's top award for a facility," Friel said. "We continue to see the impact on our campus, and we are grateful that this impact was recognized by NIRSA."

Friel also thanked Marquette's Facilities Planning and Management team for their work on the project, including project manager Joel Smullen and Macrina Abdouch of HOK.
