The track showcases Elderbrook's signature ability to pair poignant songwriting and powerful vocals with expansive electronic production, with Rules' warm, ethereal soundscapes helping shape the track's rich sonic backdrop. Written and produced by Elderbrook alongside Rules, "Staring at the Sun" captures a sense of longing, reflection, and rediscovery, exploring the memories and experiences that shape who we become.

At its core, "Staring at the Sun" is a meditation on reconnecting with the person you once were. Through his powerful lyrics and distinctive vocal performance, Elderbrook reflects on the feeling of looking back on a younger version of yourself, revisiting the curiosity, inspiration, and sense of possibility that once felt endless.
