Colorado Springs Airport Monthly Update — July 2026

Colorado Springs Airport (COS) recorded 115,820 passenger enplanements in July 2026, a 4.2% decline from July 2025. The decrease reflects broader national trends as the travel industry navigates economic challenges and fluctuating fuel prices. A recent decrease in passengers at COS can also be attributed to a reduction in frequency to Salt Lake City (SLC) on Delta Air Lines, in addition to aircraft downsizing to Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) on American Airlines, Minneapolis-St. Paul (MSP), also on Delta Air Lines, and to Denver (DEN) on United Airlines.

Allegiant Air reported a 17.3% increase in enplanements. The airline serves popular routes including St. Petersburg-Clearwater (PIE), Santa Ana-Orange County (SNA), and seasonal service to Phoenix-Mesa (AZA), which is scheduled to resume Oct. 1. Allegiant continues to build market share in their second year of service from COS.

Delta Air Lines posted a 2% increase in enplanements at COS, rising to 15,571 passengers compared with last year. Delta maintains twice-daily service to Atlanta (ATL) and Salt Lake City (SLC) with seasonal flights to Minneapolis-St. Paul (MSP) through early September.

Colorado Springs Airport remains committed to sustainable, long-term growth by strengthening airline partnerships, supporting existing routes and pursuing expanded air service options that enhance travel opportunities for residents and visitors throughout the Pikes Peak region.

Notable Updates

• On Aug. 10, COS began phase two of Milton E. Proby Parkway roadway rehabilitation. The project will continue through mid-October and includes asphalt milling, crack repair, paving and final striping on both inbound and outbound lanes. From now until Sept. 18, drivers can expect lane shifts and slower traffic between 7 p.m. and 3 a.m. MDT. Motorists should follow electronic signs, obey posted construction zone speed limits, and allow extra travel time. The work is part of ongoing efforts to maintain and improve the airport's primary access roadway for passengers, employees, and partners.
• On Aug. 19, COS joined more than two dozen regional partners to conduct a full-scale emergency exercise focused on improving safety, readiness and interagency coordination. Participating agencies included local government, emergency services, healthcare providers, military units and nonprofits. The exercise, meeting Federal Aviation Administration requirements for triennial drills, involved 61 participants, 23 evaluators and 53 simulated victims, dedicating a total of 764 hours to testing emergency response capabilities. COS thanks all partners for their dedication to community safety and preparedness.
• Sept. 5-7: COS is proud to sponsor the 50th annual Labor Day Lift Off, featuring pilot Chris Smart flying the COS-branded banner balloon over Memorial Park to celebrate this milestone event.
• Sept. 19-20: The Pikes Peak Air Show returns, showcasing historic and modern aircraft displays, STEM activities, food vendors and family programming. The event brings together aviation enthusiasts from across the region.
