SALEM -- Oregon DMV's computer system will be unavailable later this week through the Fourth of July weekend for an upgrade that will impact DMV2U and DMV Express Kiosks. All DMV services will return to normal at start of business Monday, July 6.

Timeline and impacts

  • DMV2U will be unavailable starting at 4 p.m. Thursday, July 2.
  • DMV Express Kiosks will be unavailable starting at 8 p.m. Thursday, July 2.
  • All DMV offices will be closed Friday, July 3, in observance of the holiday.

DEQ clean air stations and DEQ Too locations will continue to conduct testing and provide emissions certificates on Friday, July 3, but customers will not be able to renew their registration or tags until DMV's system is back online Monday, July 6. Customers can then renew their registration and tags online at DMV2U or at a DMV Express Kiosk.

"Our computer system requires regular upgrades to maintain and improve our service to customers," Oregon DMV Administrator Amy Joyce said. "DMV2U and our self-serve kiosks are popular ways for customers to conduct their business without visiting an office. We understand having these systems down, in addition to DMV offices being closed on Friday, will be an inconvenience. We're encouraging customers to complete necessary transactions before services go offline."

DMV's Oregon License Issuance and Vehicle Registration (OLIVR) system went live in January 2019. The upgrade will keep DMV's software current, ensuring we can integrate with partner systems and making it easier to adopt future updates to better serve our customers.

We apologize for any inconvenience. Visit our web page for updates.
