Stamping Ground, KY- Today, U.S. Congressman Andy Barr (R-KY) announced a major, $130,000 federal grant for the Stamping Ground Volunteer Fire Department (SGVFD). Secured through the Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) program, the funding will enable SGVFD to replace outdated gear with new Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and self-contained breathing apparatuses (SCBAs). Congressman Barr wrote a letter of support for this grant application.
This equipment will significantly enhance the department's ability to respond effectively to emergencies in Stamping Ground and throughout Scott County. The new equipment will allow SGVFD to meet critical public safety needs, improve response times, and better protect both residents and volunteer personnel during fires and other emergencies.
"Our firefighters put their lives on the line every single day to keep our communities safe," said Congressman Barr. "Securing this grant ensures that the Stamping Ground Volunteer Fire Department has the modern tools and equipment they need to respond quickly and safely when emergencies strike. I'm proud to support their lifesaving mission and will continue working with local applicants to ensure our first responders have the resources they deserve. I also want to thank Chief Bob Hendricks of SGVFD for his leadership and dedication in advocating for his department and the community."
"Firefighters know that Congressman Andy Barr has our back," said Chief Hendricks. "We greatly appreciate his support and leadership helping bring this grant to our department. We will use this grant to keep our community safe."
Congressman Barr remains committed to ensuring small and rural fire departments receive vital AFG funding, recognizing that local volunteer departments form the backbone of public safety, especially within Kentucky's Sixth Congressional District.
