Mass of the Holy Spirit Sept. 10 Continues Jesuit Tradition

Join the University community for the annual Mass of the Holy Spirit on Thursday, Sept.10, at 11:30 a.m. in the Byron Recreation Complex. A long-standing tradition in Jesuit education, the Mass of the Holy Spirit marks the beginning of the academic year and calls upon the Holy Spirit for wisdom, guidance and inspiration in the year ahead.

University of Scranton alumnus Archbishop Joseph Marino '75 will serve as the principal celebrant and homilist for this year's liturgy. Archbishop Marino served in the Vatican diplomatic service from 1988 to 2019 and then served as president of the Pontifical Ecclesiastical Academy in Rome from 2019 until 2023.

All classes will be canceled, and offices will be closed from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday so all may attend. A picnic lunch will follow on the Dionne Green and DeNaples Center Patio. All are welcome!
