Skowhegan Spring/Fall Leaf Clean Up

Spring clean up

The Skowhegan Highway Department will be picking up leaves and brush alongside the road within the urban compact on Streets with curbing and storm drain systems. Starting the first or second week in April weather permitting for three (3) weeks. Please be sure to separate your brush from the leaves and bring the piles out to the edge of the road.

Compost - The Skowhegan Highway Department will have free compost at the Highway garage for all Skowhegan residents during the month of May.

Fall leaf pickup

The Skowhegan Highway Department will be picking up leaves from the 4th week of October for five (5) weeks. Please be sure to separate any brush from the leaves and clear of any trash.

The Skowhegan Highway Department will only be in the scheduled areas below for one week, please get all leaves and brush out in piles to the edge of the road.

See the in-town leaf/brush clean up schedule below:

First Week - Streets east of Main Street (properties towards Fairfield)

Second Week - Streets west of Main Street (properties towards Norridgewock)

Third Week - Streets between North Ave and Madison Ave

Fourth Week - Streets west of Madison Ave

Fifth Week - Streets east of North Ave

In order to ensure that storm drain systems continue to work properly and do not become plugged with leaves and brush, the Skowhegan Public Works Department will pick up leaves on all streets that have curbing and storm drainage systems. If you live on one of these streets, your leaves and brush should be separated and raked out beyond to the edge of the road but not so far as to impede traffic. If you have any questions, please call 474-6911.

Residents may also dispose of leaves by taking them to the Town's Transfer Station facility for composting.

Thank you for your cooperation.
