Victim Identified in Homicide Investigation in the 1500 block of East Buena Ventura Street

On April 17, 2026, at approximately 11:37 PM, officers from the Gold Hill Division were dispatched to a shooting in the 1500 block of East Buena Ventura Street. Initial information included that one person had been shot.
When officers arrived, they found one male who had suffered at least one gunshot wound to his torso. This male was transported to a local hospital for medical treatment, but he succumbed to his injuries while at the hospital.
Officers also contacted a female inside the residence and learned that she had been involved in a disturbance with the decedent. During that disturbance, the female produced a firearm and shot the male victim.
Detectives from the homicide unit responded to assume the investigation, which is still ongoing. All parties involved in this incident have been identified and contacted by detectives. 23-year-old Danna Corral-Montelongo has been taken into custody and transported to the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center for Murder in the Second Degree.
On April 20, 2026, the El Paso County Coroner's Office conducted an autopsy and identified the deceased victim as 22-year-old Marley Day. While the Coroner's Office will determine the cause and manner of death, this is being investigated as a homicide. A photo of Mr. Day has been provided by the family below.
This was the 4th homicide in Colorado Springs this year. Last year at this time, there were 14 homicides.
