5 p.m. | 11/29/25 | Snowstorm and Road Condition Update

Nov. 29, 2025 (Peoria, IL) As snowfall continues across the City and region, the City of Peoria's Snowfighters have been hard at work treating and plowing the main arterial streets throughout the day. Crews will remain focused on maintaining safe travel on primary roads through this evening and overnight.

Based on current forecasts, snowfall is expected to taper off between 9 p.m. and midnight. Public Works anticipates moving into residential neighborhoods in the morning hours tomorrow, Sunday, Nov. 30. Crews will continue operating in 12-hour, around-the-clock shifts for the foreseeable future.

Driving conditions remain hazardous, but passable. While arterial roads are partially snow-covered and drivable, residential streets remain fully snow-covered. Road conditions are expected to gradually improve overnight and throughout the day on Sunday.

Public Works strongly encourages residents to stay home tonight and avoid unnecessary travel tomorrow morning. If travel is essential, please use extreme caution - drive slowly, increase your following distance, remain alert, and be prepared for rapidly changing road conditions.

For more information about the Department's winter operations, please call 309-494-8850.

Drive slowly, stay safe, and have a great evening!
