Open Enrollment for 2026 benefits is now open. The University of Toledo employees may select their 2026 benefits through Friday, Oct. 31. The University will again offer several benefit plans to best suit the needs of employees and their eligible dependents. UToledo continues to support its employees by covering 80% of the total premium cost on all available health plans.
Please refer to the Open Enrollment web pages located on the HR website to review the adjusted 2026 rate charts for specific elections.
Due to updated IRS regulations on high-deductible plans, the blue plan will see an adjustment to the minimum deductible to remain compliant with HSA requirements. To maintain consistency in both plans, there have been corresponding deductible and maximum out-of-pocket adjustments to all tiers.
Employees participating in HSA or FSA elections must assign their deductions in the Open Enrollment portal. The 2026 plan and premium information is posted for reference at utoledo.edu/open-enrollment.
UToledo encourages all employees to take advantage of the high-quality care offered through UToledo Health. As the only academic medical center in the region, UTMC and our UToledo providers offer unmatched expertise in many of the same specialties as local market competitors. Additionally, UToledo Health rates continue to offer the lowest deductible and out-of-pocket maximum costs, available only to employees and their covered dependents who use our health system for their care.
While the outcome of contract negotiations between Medical Mutual and ProMedica is beyond the University's control, both parties continue to work together on a fair resolution. If negotiations continue into next year, employees will continue to have access to ProMedica providers. Employees will not be forced to change providers, but they may see a cost increase, temporarily moving from in-network to out-of-network rates.
Human Resources and UToledo Health Pharmacies will also host a Benefits Fair on Wednesday, Oct. 15, at the Thompson Student Union in the Ingman Room on Main Campus and on Thursday, Oct. 16, at the Morse Center on the Health Science Campus. Both events are scheduled from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Additionally, Human Resources is available to assist with any questions during the Open Enrollment process and can be contacted Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. by emailing [email protected] or calling 419.530.4747, select option 4.
The department will also offer one-on-one virtual/phone consultations with benefits specialists Monday through Friday from Oct. 1 through Oct. 31. Schedule an appointment or use the open enrollment live chat available at utoledo.edu/open-enrollment Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
