American Job Center Rooftop Career Expo set for October 16

The American Job Center (AJC) invites community members to an outdoor career finding event from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, October 16. The Rooftop Career Expo will be on the sixth floor of the parking garage above the American Job Center, 1330 "N" St., Suite A.

Those attending may park for free in the Park & Go garage at 14th and "N" streets and use the elevator. To receive one hour of free parking, attendees must enter their license plate number into one of the kiosks in the parking garage.

"Fall is a season of new opportunities, and the Rooftop Career Expo is the perfect place for job seekers to connect with employers and take the next step in their careers," said Dylan Wren, AJC Workforce Administrator.

Local employers attending the event include the State of Nebraska, ALLO Fiber, Lincoln Electrical JATC, WarHorse Gaming Inc., Lincoln Electric System and many more.

The American Job Center offers several coaching and training programs:

  • Adult Program for those ages 18 and older
  • Dislocated Worker Program for those affected by a layoff or closure
  • Youth Employment Support Services for those ages 14 to 24.
  • Ticket to Work program to help those who receive disability benefits return to work or begin working for the first time
  • SNAP Next Step Employment and Training Program for those currently receiving SNAP benefits

Features of the American Job Center include conference and interview rooms allow clients to meet potential employers and career planners. Equipped with state-of-the-art technology such as free Wi-Fi, webcams, televisions and iPads, the rooms allow clients to interview for potential jobs in person or virtually.
