UW-Oshkosh students earn spotlight at 22nd annual Research in the Rotunda

A contingent of student researchers and their faculty advisers from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh joined undergraduates from across the Universities of Wisconsin, showcasing projects March 11 at the 22nd annual Research in the Rotunda at the Wisconsin State Capitol in Madison.

State Rep. Lee Snodgrass joins UWO students Seng Yeng Lee of Appleton and Pangnra Yang of Menomonee Falls, in front of their poster display on March 11.

Seven research entries represented the work of 17 UW-Oshkosh students, assisted by their faculty advisers.

Research findings were on display and presented to the Governor, state legislators, business leaders, alumni and the public.

Detailed program information is available on the official Research in the Rotunda website and may be found here.

"Undergraduate research accelerates learning in powerful ways, and it's happening at UW universities across Wisconsin," said Universities of Wisconsin President Jay Rothman. "Through this work, our students build the skills employers across Wisconsin count on: critical thinking, adaptability and the confidence to contribute from day one. Undergraduate research is also a launching pad to a career in academic research with the potential for groundbreaking discoveries."

Talented undergraduates

Over 22 years of the event's existence, more than 1, 500 undergraduate research projects have been featured.

"They are a tangible representation of the Universities of Wisconsin's ongoing commitment to build the talent pipeline and to expand knowledge and ideas that are vital to the state's success . . .," said Rothman, who noted the student research helps create knowledge that enables Wisconsin to address difficult problems while helping improve quality of life.
