Neslihan Alp, Ph.D., Dean of the College of Engineering, Technology, and Management (ETM) at Oregon Tech, has been appointed as a Commissioner on the ABET Engineering Accreditation Commission (EAC) for the 2026-2027 term.

Her appointment was approved by ABET's Engineering Area Delegation following her nomination by her professional society and recommendation by the EAC Nominating Committee. Her term will begin at the close of the July 2026 EAC meeting and run through July 2027, with the possibility of annual renewal for up to five years.

The Engineering Accreditation Commission is responsible for accrediting engineering programs worldwide and ensuring the quality and continuous improvement of engineering education. In her role as a commissioner, Alp will help guide accreditation decisions, participate in commission meetings, and serve as a Team Chair or Co-Team Chair for accreditation visits.

Alp has served ABET for many years as a Program Evaluator and accreditation team member. Her appointment as Commissioner recognizes her continued leadership and contributions to advancing excellence in engineering education.

"Dr. Alp's appointment to the ABET Engineering Accreditation Commission is a testament to her expertise and leadership in engineering education," said Dr. Hesham El-Rewini, Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and Strategic Enrollment Management at Oregon Tech. "Her service at the national level strengthens Oregon Tech's commitment to academic quality, accreditation excellence, and continuous improvement."

Alp will attend the Engineering Accreditation Commission meeting July 15-18, 2026, in Baltimore, Maryland, where she will be formally installed as a commissioner. Her role as an ABET commissioner is a volunteer professional service and will be carried out during her available time outside of her responsibilities as Dean at Oregon Tech.
