On September 26, Ambassador Yu Dunhai met with Tochukwu Chinedu Okere, Chairman of the House Committee on Diaspora Affairs of Nigeria and the committee members.
Ambassador Yu stated that China-Nigeria relations have maintained a sound momentum of growth, with friendship towards China has becoming a broad consensus across all political parties and sectors in Nigeria. He noted that China is about to celebrate the 76th anniversary of its National Day. Over the past 76 years, China has achieved significant economic and social progress, having lifted over 800 million people out of poverty and making major contributions to global poverty reduction. China is willing to enhance exchanges with Nigeria on governance, deepen practical cooperation across various sectors, promote people-to-people exchanges, and jointly build a high-level China-Nigeria community with a shared future.
Chairman Okere emphasized that Nigeria attaches great importance to the Nigeria-China relations and firmly upholds the One-China principle. He shared that he once visited China and was deeply impressed by its modernization achievements. The House Committee on Diaspora Affairs looks forward to strengthening exchanges and cooperation with relevant Chinese agencies, so as to consolidate the public support for the high-quality development of China-Nigeria relations.
