Post Date:01/25/2026 4:25 pm

Albany County Executive Daniel P. McCoy has declared a State of Emergency and closed County offices effective immediately. At this time, County offices are expected to reopen on Tuesday, January 27, 2026 weather permitting. County workers should *not* report to work Monday and check with their supervisors to determine if they are telecommuting. This closure does not apply to the following departments: Albany County Nursing Home, DPW, General Services, Water Purification District or Sheriff's Office.

"Our DPW crews are working hard to keep the roads plowed and safe," said County Executive McCoy. "We have 30 large plow trucks out on our roads currently with other large pickups with plows and we need to keep people off of them in order to keep those roads clear."

Safety is a top priority as the snow continues to fall and will ramp continue Monday. The County Executive McCoy urges everyone to keep candles and batteries handy and to check on any seniors close by. In the event you do lose power, numbers for National Grid and NYSEG are below:

"Please stay home; stay off the roads and be safe," urged McCoy. "Let the plow operators do their jobs and clear the roads."
