U.S. Attorney Pledges Support in Fight Against Fraud

The United States Attorney's Office for the Northern District of Iowa today committed itself to the Vice President's Pledge to Protect Americans from Fraud.

"Our office is privileged to have a team dedicated to going after the criminals and cheats who are bilking American taxpayers," said U.S. Attorney Leif Olson. "Our civil lawyers are clawing back taxpayer money from people who exaggerate or lie about the work they're doing. Our prosecutors are jailing fraudsters and forcing them to pay restitution for breaking the law. We're happy to join the leaders, law-enforcement agencies, and fellow U.S. Attorneys' Offices who are taking the Vice President's Pledge to Protect Americans from Fraud."

President Trump established the White House Fraud Task Force on March 16, 2026, with Vice President Vance as its chair. The Task Force's mission is to coordinate and accelerate a comprehensive national strategy to stop fraud, waste, and abuse within Federal benefit programs. The Vice President's Pledge is reproduced below:

Each year, hardworking Americans pay trillions of dollars to fund a system of benefits programs for citizens in need. Unfortunately, this generosity and willingness to help our fellow Americans has been abused and exploited by fraudsters, illegal aliens, and corrupt bureaucrats. We must do all we can to stop the fraud and bring fraudsters and their enablers to justice, restoring trust and preserving these programs for future generations. Although previous administrations turned a blind eye to fraud, President Trump and Vice President Vance are aggressively fighting fraudsters nationwide. I pledge to do everything within my power to ensure that:

1. Vulnerable Americans, such as the elderly, indigent, and disabled, are protected from fraudsters who seek to prey on them.

2. Taxpayer-funded programs serve law- abiding Americans, not illegal aliens, or fraudsters.

3. Taxpayer-funded benefits are not used by fraudsters to buy mansions or luxury cars.

4. Public agencies and officials work tirelessly and aggressively, coordinating at all levels of government, to stop fraud before payments go out the door.

5. Fraudsters face justice for their crimes in a court of law. Convicted fraudsters will be imprisoned and permanently barred from receiving another penny of taxpayer dollars.

6. Illegal alien fraudsters are promptly arrested, prosecuted, imprisoned, and deported, never able to take advantage of Americans' generosity again.
