LITTLE ROCK - Mayor Frank Scott, Jr.'s summertime crime reduction strategy resulted in significantly lower crime numbers, as Little Rock continues a multiyear trend that has made Arkansas's capital city both safer and stronger.

The most recent statistics show overall crime is down 22 percent compared to the past five years, and violent crime has decreased 15 percent over the same period. Year-to-year, overall crime is down 18 percent, and violent crime has decreased 8 percent.

The positive statistics follow a summer season where Mayor Scott's team went "back to the basics" to focus on positive prevention programs for children and youth, community-oriented policing, targeted patrols in high-crime areas, and more.

"Public safety is our highest priority," Mayor Scott said. "Our obligation to keep our residents and visitors safe is embedded in everything we do, and this comprehensive approach to crime reduction has led to real results for our City. I'm proud of the Little Rock Police Department for its dedication to our community, and to every person who works every day to eliminate crime and reverse the unwarranted perception of crime in our City."

Mayor Scott's comprehensive crime reduction strategy is data-driven and technology-focused, with LRPD using tools like the Real Time Crime Center and Eyes on The Rock to investigate and prevent crimes. The Department of Community Programs, Parks and Recreation Department and other City departments help implement multiple programs and initiatives to provide activities for youth and the community and for workforce development and job creation.

Over the summer, more than 5,000 Little Rock children and youth participated in Parks Department programs like Youth Summer Camps and swimming lessons. Over the same period, the Department of Community Programs logged more than 47,000 direct hours of engagement with community members, while supporting and helping fund more than 250 interns at nearly 100 Little Rock worksites.

"In 2025, as we have strengthened our focus on the basics, we are building safer neighborhoods across Little Rock," Mayor Scott said. "Numbers don't lie, and these positive statistics reflect the hard work we have done to make Little Rock better and stronger. We have more work to do, and we will keep building off this momentum and progress."
