PPL Electric Utilities restoring power after severe weather

Company has hundreds of crews and field personnel working around the clock to restore power.

ALLENTOWN, Pa. (July 5, 2026) - PPL Electric Utilities has restored power to more than 116,700 customers since severe weather impacted the region over the weekend. Crews continue to work around the clock to repair extensive damage and restore power for the more than 115,000 customers without power.

The company secured additional resources through mutual assistance and from PPL Corporation's other electric utilities and has deployed these additional crews and field personnel across eastern and central Pennsylvania. The team continues to assess damage, remove downed trees and limbs and restore power following damage caused by heavy rain and gusting winds that reached up to 60 mph.

"Crews continue to work around the clock as safely and quickly as possible," said Christine Martin, President of PPL Electric Utilities. "We understand that being without power is never easy, and we'll continue to work nonstop until every customer is restored."

PPL Electric prepared for the storms by securing additional crews and personnel as part of the company's emergency response operations. This includes over 1,000 personnel responding, including both field-based and back-office emergency response operations across its service territory.

Additional severe storms with wind gusts up to 65 mph are forecast for late Sunday. These storms could cause additional outages, with hail, widespread rain and the potential for localized flooding continuing through Monday. As forecasts evolve, the company will continue to assess resource needs and communicate with local officials and first responders.

As restoration progress continues, PPL Electric will update estimated restoration times on its outage map. Due to the extent of damage, the company expects this to be a multi-day restoration effort. As always, the safety of customers, communities, first responders and crews is the company's top priority as we work to restore power. Assume all downed wires are energized and stay away. Report downed wires to PPL Electric or local emergency response agencies immediately.
