October 2 - County Clerks May Begin Mailing Ballots for the 2026 General Election

Denver, October 2, 2026 - Beginning today, Colorado County Clerks may begin mailing ballots to active voters for the November 3, 2026 General Election.

"Ballots will be sent to voters earlier this election, giving voters more time to research their candidates and ballot measures and make a plan to vote by November 3, " said Secretary of State Jena Griswold. "As ballots hit mailboxes across the state in the coming days, I encourage every eligible voter to make their voices heard in the upcoming November General Election."

County Clerks must mail ballots to active voters by Friday, October 9 for the General Election.

Eligible Coloradans can register to vote and update their voter registration at GoVoteColorado.gov through October 26 in order to receive a ballot in the mail. After October 26, Coloradans can still register and vote in-person at a voting center through 7:00 PM on Election Day.

This year, 452 drop boxes will be available for voters by October 12 and 384 voter centers will be available for voters by October 19. Voters can look up their locations, opening date, and hours at GoVoteColorado.gov.
