Deceased individual identified after July 24 crash near the 3400 block of East Platte Avenue

On July 24, 2026, at approximately 10:00 p.m., Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) officers responded to the 3400 block of East Platte Avenue for a single vehicle traffic crash. Upon arrival, officers located a single vehicle which had lost control and rolled over, coming to rest on the south side of Platte Avenue. A male occupant of the vehicle was ejected and was pronounced deceased at the scene. Two other occupants were transported to a local hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries sustained in the crash. Due to the serious nature of the injuries, the Major Crash Team was notified and assumed the investigation. Speed is considered as a factor in this crash.

On July 27, 2026, CSPD was notified by the El Paso County Coroner's Office that the deceased male had been positively identified as 25-year-old D'Neico Moe. The investigation is still ongoing.

This incident marks the 36th traffic fatality in Colorado Springs in 2026. At this time last year, the city experienced 31 traffic fatalities. Over the past 365 days, there have been 58 traffic-related fatalities within the city.
