U.S. SENATE - A resolution introduced by Senator Sheehy recognizing the Army-Navy football game as America's Game passed the Senate unanimously tonight. The resolution expresses the sense of the Senate that the Army-Navy game is a cornerstone of U.S. collegiate sports and calls on broadcasters, athletic associations and conferences, and universities to protect the game's exclusive status and avoid scheduling other college football games during its regular time slot.
"For more than a century, the Army-Navy Game has been a celebration of patriotism, national unity, and our brave servicemen and women. I'm proud to lead this bipartisan resolution recognizing this historic rivalry as 'America's Game' as we work to preserve the singular spotlight it deserves," said Senator Sheehy.
This bipartisan resolution follows a January announcement by President Trump that he will take executive action to protect the Army-Navy game's broadcast slot. Senator Sheehy was joined in introducing the resolution by Senators Jack Reed (D-R.I.), Dan Sullivan (R-AK), Chris Van Hollen (D-Md.), Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.), Rick Scott (R-Fla.), Mark Kelly (D-Ariz.), Tim Kaine (D-Va.), John Boozman (R-Ark.), Tom Cotton (R-Ark.), Deb Fischer (R-Neb.), Tommy Tuberville (R-Ala.), Jim Risch (R-ID), Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.), Ted Cruz (R-TX), Jeanne Shaheen (D-N.H.), and Chris Murphy (D-Conn.).
