The Chicago Department of Aviation (CDA) is inviting families on a fun-filled experience at Midway International Airport with two free, hands-on "Midway Airport Family Night" events this month. Designed especially for children and their loved ones, these family nights offer a fun, educational way to help make every step of the airport journey easier and more enjoyable for future travel.
The first event will take place this Saturday, Sept. 13, with two interactive sessions running from 3 to 5:30 p.m. and from 4 to 6:30 p.m. A second Family Night will take place on Tuesday, Sept. 30, from 4 to 6:30 p.m., giving families another opportunity to explore the airport together before takeoff.
"Few experiences are as magical for a child as their first flight - and much of that wonder begins before the plane ever leaves the ground," said CDA Commissioner Michael McMurray. "At Midway Airport Family Night, we want young travelers and their families to feel that same sense of excitement and confidence as they move through the airport. This event is a chance to explore the journey together - from check-in to boarding - and to show kids that flying isn't just about the destination, it's about the adventure of the whole trip."
Registration is open at FlyChicago.com/Midway and the links below.
The events will feature customer experience experts from Midway Airport, the Transportation Security Administration, and airline partners, who will walk families through security procedures for traveling with items such as milk, juice, medications, food pouches, car seats and strollers. Airport teams will also answer common questions about checking baby gear, baggage allowance, and gate-checking strollers - giving parents and caregivers practical tips to make the journey smoother from start to finish.
The events are open to children under 18 who are accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
