Pennacchio Asks Governor: Where Have Noncitizens Been Voting?

Joe Pennacchio Posted on August 28, 2026

Senator Joe Pennacchio (R-Morris, Passaic) sent a letter to Governor Mikie Sherrill requesting that she direct the Division of Elections and the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission to release government records identifying which elections were affected by self-identified noncitizen voters.

Senator Pennacchio submitted a request for these records more than five weeks ago but says the administration has yet to provide any information.

An excerpt from the letter reads:

"We all need to know how many of these razor thin elections for mayor, council, school board, fire commissioner, and partisan county committee member have resulted in ties or narrow margins of victory of fewer than a handful of votes.

"I am shocked these government records have not already been shared with the public, press, and impacted candidates - much less with me in response to my request. We have a right to government records that would allow us to determine whether our elections have been fairly conducted and decided."
