IFIF Showcases Feed Industry’s Climate Leadership at COP30 in Belém

Belém, Brazil - The International Feed Industry Federation (IFIF) will play an active role at the 30th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP30) in Belém, Brazil, from 10-21 November 2025. IFIF will cohost and participate in a series of key events demonstrating the feed industry's essential contribution to sustainable food systems, climate action, and innovation in livestock production.

Feeding the Future: Climate-Smart Strategies for a Sustainable Global Feed Industry

In collaboration with Sindirações and the American Feed Industry Association (AFIA), IFIF will cohost the panel "Feeding the Future: Climate-Smart Strategies for a Sustainable Global Feed Industry" on 15 November 2025 at 14:00 (GMT-3) in the AgriZone (Auditorium A4) at the COP30 venue.

This first-of-its-kind session will highlight the feed sector's central role in enabling sustainable, efficient, and climate-smart animal production. The discussion will explore innovation, feed efficiency, nutrient management, and collaboration with governments and international organizations to deliver practical climate solutions.

"The global feed industry is a vital partner in building a sustainable, climate-resilient food system," said Alexandra de Athayde, IFIF Executive Director. "At COP30, IFIF is proud to highlight how feed innovation and efficiency are driving progress toward the UN Sustainable Development Goals and global climate commitments."

The AgriZone, organized by Embrapa (the Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation), serves as a new platform within COP30 to showcase sustainable agricultural innovations. IFIF's panel will convene global industry leaders and experts to identify pathways to a more efficient, low-carbon livestock sector capable of nourishing a growing population through safe, wholesome, and nutrient-rich animal-sourced foods.

Key outcomes from the discussion will help inform global dialogue, guide future research and policy priorities, and support coordinated climate action across the feed and livestock value chains.

FAO LEAP Event: The Role of Livestock in Circular Bioeconomy Systems

As part of its leadership within the FAO Livestock Environmental Assessment and Performance (LEAP) Partnership, IFIF will also take part in the session "The Role of Livestock in Circular Bioeconomy Systems" (Event #81) on 14 November 2025, from 10:00 to 11:15 (BRT) at Embrapa Amazônia Oriental, AgriZone - Auditorium 4.

This focused, in-person event will bring together around 20 participants for a direct exchange on how livestock systems can contribute to circular bioeconomy models and sustainable resource use.

The event will be chaired and moderated by Alexandra de Athayde, FAO LEAP Chair and IFIF Executive Director, representing the Partnership and facilitating dialogue among participants. While the FAO LEAP Secretariat will not be present in Belém, this session underscores IFIF's commitment to advancing LEAP's work on science-based methodologies for assessing livestock sustainability.

Venue: Embrapa Amazônia Oriental, Travessa Dr. Enéas Pinheiro, Marco - C.P. 48, Belém, Pará
