Kacey Musgraves is keeping her Middle of Nowhere era going.
Middle of Nowhere Vol. 2: Tex Mex Tapes will arrive in early 2027, the Grammy-winning country artist, 38, announced on Instagram on Thursday morning (October 22). Two of the new tracks, "Weekend In Texas" and "Mi Tesoro," will release on Friday (October 23).
Musgraves released her sixth studio record earlier this year, following 2024's Deeper Well, 2021's star-crossed, 2018's Golden Hour, 2015's Pageant Material and 2013's Same Trailer Different Park. Middle of Nowhere included the title track, "Dry Spell" (her NSFW single), "Loneliest Girl," "Mexico Honey" and more, plus collaborations with Gregory Alan Isakov, Billy Strings, Miranda Lambert and Willie Nelson. Earlier this month, Musgraves released a Spanish rendition of "Uncertain, TX," featuring Intocable.
Musgraves told Varietyshortly before KM6 arrived that the record was inspired by a sign in her hometown of Golden, Texas, deeming the town, "Somewhere int he Middle of Nowhere." Musgraves told the outlet at the time, "It made me laugh, and I was just like, OK, that's obviously meant to be a little bit self-deprecating, but there was this quiet confidence about it that I really liked." The record allowed the singer-songwriter to consider whether her home is a specific location or a "feeling that you carry with you."
Musgraves is on her headlining "Middle of Nowhere Tour" with Midland, Carter Faith, Flatland Cavalry and Charles Wesley Godwin on select dates.
Middle of Nowhere Vol. 2: Tex Mex Tapes will arrive on January 15.
