Chinese Ambassador to The Bahamas Yan Jiarong Meets with Newly-appointed Bahamian Senator Keno Wong

On 28 May 2026, Her Excellency Yan Jiarong, Chinese Ambassador to The Bahamas, met with newly-appointed Bahamian Senator Keno Wong.

Ambassador Yan congratulated Senator Wong on his election as the first senator of Chinese descent in The Bahamas, noting that his election reflects the inclusiveness of Bahamian society and culture. She said that the Chinese community in The Bahamas has long lived in harmony with people of all ethnic backgrounds  and has made significant contributions to the country's economic and social development. She is convinced that that Senator Wong would serve as a bridge for promoting China-Bahamas friendship.

Senator Wong said that his grandfather came from Beijing and that he values his Chinese heritage. As a senator, he will actively promote the continued development of people-to-people ties between The Bahamas and China and advance more practical cooperation that benefits the Bahamian people.
