Secretary of State to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, in charge of the National Community Abroad, Sofiane Chaib, held a series of bilateral talks on Friday in New York on the sidelines of the second International Migration Review Forum.
M. Chaib met with Somalia's State Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Ali Mohammed Omar, Dutch Vice Prime Minister and Minister for Asylum and Migration Bart van den Brink, Vice Minister for Diaspora and Human Mobility in El Salvador , Patricia Nathaly Godínez, and Undersecretary for Migrant Workers Affairs of the Philippines.
These meetings provided an opportunity to exchange views on migration and diaspora issues, review relevant national experiences, and explore ways to strengthen bilateral and multilateral cooperation, as well as coordination mechanisms and knowledge-sharing in the field.
M. Chaib also met with the Director-General of the International Organization for Migration (IOM), Amy Pope, where both sides highlighted the level of cooperation between Algeria and the organization and reaffirmed their commitment to further joint efforts to promote comprehensive migration governance and enhance international coordination in this area.
