Public Service Recognition Week kicks off on Sunday, May 3, serving as an important reminder of the essential role the South Florida Water Management District's staff plays in managing and protecting our region's water resources.

DID YOU KNOW: Our dedicated team of public servants works year round to safeguard and restore our water resources and ecosystems, protect our communities from flooding, and meet the region's water needs.

EFFECTIVELY MANAGING OUR WATER RESOURCES: From Orlando to the Florida Keys, District staff is working every day to effectively manage water that moves through the District's canals, natural areas, levees and water control structures. We continue to advance key restoration projects that are improving the quantity, quality, timing and distribution of water within the Greater Everglades Ecosystem.

PUBLIC SERVICE MISSION: Our talented team is committed to our mission. Our work includes:

Ensuring sufficient water supplies to meet the needs of more than 9 million residents, visitors and the environment

Providing flood protection for South Florida communities
